Use of AI at ReelFlow
AI-Generated & Enhanced Video Content: Our Approach & Policy
At ReelFlow, we believe in the value of using real people to tell stories and speak to an audience - and that shouldn’t be limited by an individual’s time, confidence, or access to a camera.
Our AI-powered Video Stand-in feature helps solve those challenges by allowing our customers to use the power of AI to generate video content based on an original recording of themselves.
Starting with a written script or your own voice uploaded as an audio recording, the AI-generated footage does the talking - so your presence stays true, even when you can’t always be present. As a consequence, we call this generated human likeness your personal “Video Stand-in”.
We understand this kind of technology can feel unfamiliar, even a little daunting. But it doesn’t need to be. We’re here to make sure it’s applied thoughtfully, securely, and with a human in full control.
Consent and Control Come First
You and only you – or those you explicitly delegate – can generate content using your own likeness. Creating a personal Stand-in starts with your explicit permission, and that permission can be revoked at any time. That means no one else can create video from your likeness without your consent.
Right now, we require accounts using this technology to be secured with two-step verification. In future, we’ll add more safeguards and ways for people to manage access and revoke permission quickly and easily. We’re committed to keeping you in control at all times.
Our Policy: What You Can and Can’t Use Stand-ins For
We want this feature to be used in positive, constructive ways - whether that’s saving time, avoiding the camera, or scaling your content thoughtfully.
To help make that possible, we don’t allow Stand-in videos to be used to:
- Promote illegal or harmful content
- Share overtly political messages
- Produce sexually explicit content
- Mislead
- Impersonate others who you don’t have permission to do so
We reserve the right to suspend or withdraw access if this technology is being used in ways that break our terms, or the terms of our trusted suppliers. These boundaries exist to protect everyone; you, your audience, and the people who appear in Stand-in videos.
You can read how this is applied in our full Terms of Use here.
Transparency Matters
By default, video generated using a Video Stand-in will carry a small visual indicator on our ReelFlow Player letting viewers know it’s been generated or modified from existing footage. It’s about clarity and trust. We think viewers deserve to know, and most will appreciate the openness in a world where that clarity is often unclear.
Not for Everyone – And That’s OK
This technology isn’t a replacement for real human communication. It’s a shortcut for when you need it - especially helpful for people short on time, working across teams, or who just aren’t keen on getting in front of the camera. Some customers may prefer never to use it. That’s entirely up to you.
We see this as part of a long tradition - when photography first emerged, it raised eyebrows too. Used well, it opened the door for more people to express themselves, tell stories, and share ideas. Our aim with generated video is similar: to give more people access to a powerful, creative, and previously expensive medium.
A Human-First Approach
At ReelFlow, we don’t believe in replacing people with technology. We believe in helping people work more efficiently and express themselves more effectively. That’s why we focus on tools that extend what’s possible - always anchored to the person behind the message.
If you’ve got questions or concerns, we’re here to listen. This space is evolving, and we’ll keep adapting our approach as the landscape changes. But our commitment to ethical use, human control, and thoughtful communication will stay constant.
